01

Scope

SmartMushaf is a free, non-commercial iOS app for Quran reading, memorization, recitation review, adhkar, prayer times, and Qibla. This policy covers the app and its official website.

02

Information we handle

Optional account

If you choose to sign in, we may receive an account identifier, name, email address, and profile image when available and permitted. Authentication tokens establish a secure session. We never request or store your account password.

Location, with permission

Location is used while the app is in use for Qibla and prayer times. Qibla is calculated on device. Coordinates or a manually selected city and country may be included in a technical request for prayer times. We do not keep a server-side location history, and you may select a city manually.

Microphone and recitation

With your permission, local recitation review uses the microphone and processes audio samples on your device. Audio is not uploaded to our servers and is not saved by default. Any explicitly saved recording remains in app-local storage until you remove it or delete the app.

Local activity

Reading, memorization, khatmah, recitation and adhkar progress; bookmarks; favorites; settings; selected city; and reminders may be stored locally.

Notifications, reports, and messages

If enabled, a technical device token delivers notifications and is not used for advertising or cross-app tracking. A report you voluntarily submit may include your message, provided email address or phone number, optional Quran context, app version, and device description. Sign-in is not required for a contact message, but a valid email address or phone number is required so we can reply.

03

Purposes

  • Authenticate and restore sessions.
  • Provide recitation, prayer, Qibla, and notification features you request.
  • Store preferences and progress.
  • Respond to reports, prevent abuse, and protect the service.
04

Necessary technical sharing

We do not sell personal information or share it for advertising. The minimum information necessary may be transmitted to complete a feature you request, such as sign-in, prayer-time retrieval, notification delivery, or network content. Requests may include an IP address and ordinary connection metadata.

Account information is not used for marketing profiles and is transferred only to provide requested functionality, protect the service, or meet legal obligations. Sign-in information is handled under limited-use and user-data protection requirements.

05

Retention and deletion

  • Local progress, settings, and optional recordings remain until removed or the app/data is deleted.
  • Your sign-in account remains until deleted in “Privacy & Account” or deletion assistance is requested.
  • Deleting a sign-in account does not automatically erase local reading progress; the app discloses this before confirmation.
  • Guest-profile deletion clears local guest data according to the options shown.
  • Reports and messages may be retained as reasonably necessary to respond, secure the service, and meet legal obligations, then deleted or de-identified.
06

Your choices and rights

You may use guest mode, sign out, delete your sign-in account, deny microphone, location, or notification access, and disable permissions later in system settings. Additional access, correction, deletion, restriction, or objection rights may apply in your country.

07

Security and international processing

We use encrypted connections, access controls, limited permissions, and reasonable technical and organizational safeguards. No electronic system is completely secure. Technical requests may be processed in different countries under applicable legal safeguards.

08

Children

The app provides general religious and educational content and is not designed to collect personal information from children. Guest mode is available; there are no ads and we do not sell data. A parent or guardian may contact us to request deletion.

09

Changes and contact

We may update this policy when functionality or legal requirements change. The updated date will appear here. For questions or data access, correction, or deletion requests: smartmushaf.ae@gmail.com.
